The Time Out Pad aka The Naughty Step... as featured on Channel 4
A simple design but very effective from what we have seen. Getting a child to sit quietly and reflect on their behaviour is no simple task. This Time Out Pad is really easy to use. It lets you know if your little one gets off the naughty step too soon and also when the time out is finished. A pressure sensor will automatically trigger a siren to let you know that your child has got off the pad and needs to go back on. In this way you can go about your business knowing that your child can't "get away with it".
The Time Out Pad uses a traffic light system - Red - the child needs to be on the pad, Amber - the time out is nearly over and green means that they can go! Simply set the built-in timer to the desired time-out duration (usually one minute per year of the child's age) and sit the child on the pressure sensitive pad. If the child gets up before the end of the programmed time, an alarm sounds to alert the parent or carer, and the countdown will pause until the child sits back down. Once the full time-out countdown has elapsed, the finish tune is played to let everyone know that the session has ended. The child should then apologise and be rewarded with a big hug!
The Time Out Pad comes with a very detailed instruction booklet about when it is and is not appropriate to use and helpful hints to parents with tiny tearaways!
